Climate and seasons

Page is classed BWk under the Köppen system: an arid climate whose summers are hot and very dry and whose winters are chilly with very little snow. Page lies too far north to get consistent North American monsoons.

Fire restrictions may be in effect across the Navajo Nation during the dry summer months.

Flash floods reaching the canyon can come with no rain falling nearby. The rain that feeds them falls dozens of miles away and funnels into the canyon.

Rules and time on Navajo land

Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon are both entered only with a guide. Neither canyon has photography or filming permits issued.

A backcountry permit is priced at $15 per person per night. Every Navajo Tribal Park location prohibits dogs.

On its Arizona land, the Navajo Nation observes daylight saving time, which the rest of Arizona does not.
